Paros National Airport

Paros National Airport (IATA: PAS, ICAO: LGPA), also known as “Panteleou Paros Airport” after Nikolas Panteleou who donated the land, was located in the southwestern part of Paros, about 10 km from the port of Parikia. It opened on October 5, 1982, initially as a modest municipal airport with a dirt runway and a terminal of just 80 m². By 1985 the runway was paved, and in 1987 the terminal was expanded with a second level, accommodating the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority and the meteorological service. In 1989, it became a national airport.

On July 25, 2016, the old airport was fully replaced by New Paros Airport, which is located very close to the original site. The new facility features a 1,400‑meter runway, allowing for larger aircraft, and a terminal of nearly 600 m². Olympic Air (part of Aegean Airlines) contributed to the construction, financing half of the first terminal phase.

Since 2024, Paros Airport has been undergoing a €41 million modernization and expansion project.  The plans include a new passenger terminal of about 12,500 m² (almost 17 times larger than the existing), a modern control tower, an upgraded fire station, and expanded parking for up to 550 vehicles, including spots for buses, people with reduced mobility, and electric cars.  The runway is being extended from 1,400 m to 1,800 m, which will permit the airport to handle larger aircraft and provide more parking stands, including space for jets. New infrastructure also includes a wastewater treatment plant, a hydrocarbon-separator for environmental protection, and a 100 kWp photovoltaic system.

According to the Hellenic Aviation Service Provider (HASP), the expansion is planned to be delivered in phases by summer 2026.

Paros Airport’s operator remains the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA), and its current passenger terminal is still relatively small (~600 m²), but these upgrades are expected to significantly enhance the passenger experience and increase capacity.
