Megara Airport

Megara Airport (ICAO: LGMG) also known as the Civil Aviation Airport of Pachi — is a small joint civil-military airfield located about 2 km southeast of Megara, Greece, roughly 60 km west of central Athens.

It is primarily used for general aviation: flight training, light aircraft operations, and maintenance. Global Aviation’s flight school and maintenance center are based there, offering training facilities, briefing rooms, and maintenance hangars.

The airport sits at just 12 ft (≈ 4 m) above sea level. It has a single asphalt runway, oriented 08R/26L, which is about 1,205 m long and 38 m wide.

Megara is classified by the Hellenic CAA as a VFR (visual flight rules) airfield. Its fire protection category is III, and it provides AVGAS and Jet fuel for general aviation traffic.

On the military side, the airport supports the 1st Army Aviation Brigade of the Hellenic Army.

According to the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, the airport’s administration is under the General Aviation Services Unit (M.E.G.A.P.), and it offers basic amenities such as parking (about 20 spaces), meteorological observation, and a small terminal.

Operating hours may vary; for example, during the winter season (2024–2025), the airport is open daily from 09:00 to 17:00 (local time), though PPR (Prior Permission Required) may apply for some state or military flights.

Because of its small size, Megara Airport does not offer commercial airline service, and it does not have a scheduled IATA code.
