Mytilene International Airport “Odysseas Elytis” (IATA: MJT, ICAO: LGMT) serves Mytilene, the capital of Lesbos, Greece. The airport began operations in 1948, with its first charter flight arriving in 1980.
In December 2015, Mytilene Airport was privatized along with 13 other regional Greek airports. The Fraport AG/Copelouzos Group joint venture now operates the airports under a 40-year agreement starting in autumn 2016.
The airport has a single terminal handling both domestic and international flights and is located 8 km from Mytilene. Its runway, extended to 2,400 m (7,894 ft) in 2000, accommodates small props, medium and long-range jets, regional airliners, and large aircraft. Facilities include a duty-free shop, café-bar, car rentals, and a small area for the Mytilene Airclub.
