Ghedi Air Base (ICAO: LIPL), officially Base Aerea “Luigi Olivari” di Ghedi, is a strategic Italian Air Force base located in Ghedi, about 15 km from Brescia in northern Italy.
The base was established in 1909 and today hosts the 6º Stormo “Alfredo Fusco”. Currently, the 6º Stormo comprises three squadrons: the 102º Gruppo, which now flies F-35A Lightning II; the 154º Gruppo “Diavoli Rossi”, which officially transitioned from the Tornado IDS to the F-35A in July 2025. The 155º Gruppo continues to operate Tornado ECR aircraft.
Ghedi is also one of the few Italian bases hosting nuclear weapons under NATO nuclear sharing: it reportedly stores B61 bombs in underground WS3 vaults.
In October 2025, the base participated in VOLFA 2025, a large-scale international training exercise held in France, involving F-35s and Tornado aircraft from the 6º Stormo.
