Forli International Airport, Italy

Forli International Airport, officially Aeroporto di Forlì – Luigi Ridolfi (IATA: FRL, ICAO: LIPK), is located in the city of Forlì in the Emilia‑Romagna region of northern Italy. The airport sits at an elevation of about 30 m above sea level. Its single asphalt runway is numbered 12/30 and is 2,560 m long, capable of handling a variety of aircraft.

As of 2024–2025, the airport is experiencing mixed traffic trends. In 2024 it handled 133,110 passengers, slightly down from the previous year. In the first seven months of 2025, it saw 65,111 passengers, despite a 28% rise in flight movements (1,664), indicating a drop in load per flight. Domestic traffic has grown, while international travel declined significantly.

In 2025 a new international route to Tbilisi (Georgia) was launched by Georgian Airways, offering weekly scheduled service. Ryanair also remains active, with recent reports indicating 12 daily flights on high‑demand days, totalling over 2,300 passengers.

The airport is managed by F.A. S.r.l. – Forlì Airport, which in its long-term plan envisions expanding the terminal, developing cargo operations, and increasing business aviation. Despite its ambitions, in February 2025 it was reported that the airport served 87,000 fewer passengers than projected for the year.

Forlì Airport also hosts several aviation‑training and educational institutions: it is home to ENAV’s air traffic control school, ENAC’s pilot and crew training programs, and a drone‑maintenance and aerospace incubator as part of a growing aerospace technology cluster.

Overall, while Forlì Airport continues to rebuild its commercial service and strengthen its role in regional aviation, it operates under tight financial and traffic constraints, with long‑term plans aiming to grow passenger volumes and expand its operational scope.
