Comiso Vincenzo Magliocco Airport

Comiso Airport “Pio La Torre” (IATA: CIY, ICAO: LICB), also known as Vincenzo Magliocco Airport, is located in the Sicilian town of Comiso in the province of Ragusa. The airport serves Comiso, Ragusa, Vittoria, and Gela. Originally a military airfield, it was converted to civil use between 2005 and 2008, and officially opened for commercial operations on 30 May 2013.

The airport has a single asphalt runway, 05/23, which is 2,538 m (8,326 ft) long and suitable for small propeller aircraft, regional airliners, and medium jets. The elevation of the airport is approximately 230 m above sea level. In 2024, Comiso Airport handled 260,438 passengers and recorded around 2,700 aircraft movements, reflecting a slight decline compared to previous years due to reduced schedules and smaller aircraft capacity.

Comiso Airport provides an important gateway for southeastern Sicily, connecting the Ragusa province and nearby towns to major Italian cities and seasonal European destinations. It has modern terminal facilities, passenger services, and continues to support both commercial and business aviation, maintaining its role as a regional transport hub.
