Nice Côte d’Azur Airport,France

Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (French: Aéroport Nice Côte d’Azur; IATA: NCE, ICAO: LFMN) is an international airport about 3.2 nautical miles (roughly 5.9 km) southwest of Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes department of France. It serves as a key gateway to the French Riviera and, because of its proximity to Monaco, functions also as a principal airport for the principality, with a regular helicopter link connecting Monaco and Nice. Some airlines even market flights to “Monaco” via Nice.

With two parallel runways (04L/22R and 04R/22L), the airport can handle a wide variety of aircraft, from regional airliners to large long-range jets.  Runway 04L/22R is 2,570 m long, and runway 04R/22L is 2,960 m long.

In 2024, the airport recorded a record-breaking 14.76 million commercial passengers, marking a 4% increase compared to 2023.

The airport’s route network has expanded: in 2024, it served 122 destinations across 45 countries, including a historic high of 13 long-haul routes, notably to North America (United States), Canada, and the Gulf states.

To accommodate growing traffic, Terminal 2 is undergoing a significant redevelopment. The work includes a new international departure lounge, revamped boarding gates, a modern check-in hall, updated baggage systems, and a new baggage claim area. When the upgrades are completed, the theoretical annual capacity of the airport is expected to increase from 14 million to 18 million passengers.

On the sustainability front, the airport has made notable progress: in 2024 it reduced its direct CO₂ emissions by over 93% compared to 2013, thanks to measures like electrifying ground equipment and installing EV charging points in airport car parks.

Historically, the airport has been a base for Air France and EasyJet, and it remains one of France’s busiest regional airports.  The business aviation terminal is located next to Terminal 2, supporting private jet traffic and VIP operations.
