Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport (IATA: BOD, ICAO: LFBD), known in French as Aéroport de Bordeaux‑Mérignac, is the international airport serving the city of Bordeaux in southwestern France. It is located in the commune of Mérignac, about 12 km west of Bordeaux, in the Gironde department.
The airport has two runways: runway 05/23 is 3,100 m long (equipped with ILS Cat III) and runway 11/29 is 2,415 m. Bordeaux Airport operates 24 hours a day.
In February 2024, the airport reported that by the end of 2023 it had recovered 85% of its pre‑COVID‑19 (2019) passenger traffic. In its summer 2025 schedule, Bordeaux Airport is launching 30 new direct services, increasing its network to 105 connections across 78 destinations, served by 21 airlines.
Modernization plans are underway: the airport will build a new central building between Halls A and B by 2028 to streamline passenger flows and improve the overall passenger experience. Major renovation is also planned for the Billi low-cost terminal, including a 600 m² extension, a new bioclimatic entrance, and expanded services.
Under its “Resources 27” strategic roadmap, Bordeaux Airport is investing more than €240 million through 2027 in sustainable development, decarbonization (solar, geothermal), and passenger‑centric infrastructure.
For its airfield, the airport is refurbishing its taxiways: in 2024 it awarded a contract to OCEM Airfield to upgrade lighting with energy‑efficient LED systems.
