Oxford Airport (IATA: OXF, ICAO: EGTK), also known as London Oxford Airport or Kidlington Airport, is a privately owned airport located near Kidlington in the Cherwell district of Oxfordshire, about 6 NM (11 km) north‑northwest of Oxford and roughly 100 km (62 mi) from central London. It specializes in general aviation and business aviation, and remains a major pilot-training hub: it hosts CAE Oxford (formerly Oxford Aviation Academy / Oxford Aviation Training), along with other flight schools.
In 2024, the airport saw 64,759 aircraft movements, up 10.5% from 2023. Training flights accounted for about 68% of this activity, while helicopters made up close to 9.6%. Business aviation (private/turboprops & jets) was around 9.8% of movements.
The main runway is 1,552 m (5,092 ft) long and 30 m wide (Code 3C), surfaced with grooved asphalt. It supports Instrument Landing System (ILS), NDB, and Category I approach lights. The runway has been reinforced and widened in recent years, and the airport’s fire & rescue service has been upgraded to RFFS Category 6, allowing for larger business aircraft operations (such as Boeing BBJ, Airbus ACJ, and Embraer E‑Jets).
Business aviation operations are supported by a dedicated FBO terminal, operated by OxfordJet, providing VIP services, lounges, refueling, and handling. The airport has also invested in ground infrastructure: a northern taxiway was rerouted and extended so that aircraft no longer need to backtrack on the runway, significantly improving ground efficiency.
Oxford Airport continues to be a center for pilot training.
In terms of corporate presence, the UK headquarters of Airbus Helicopters is based at Oxford. There is also a large MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) facility being developed, and a new hangar is planned to support growth in business aviation.
