Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (IATA: OPF, ICAO: KOPF) is a major general aviation and business aviation airport in Miami-Dade County, Florida, located about 11 miles north of downtown Miami. Operated by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, the airport covers 1,810 acres and is one of the key reliever airports for Miami International Airport.
OPF features three asphalt runways: Runway 9L/27R is 8,002 ft long and 150 ft wide, 9R/27L is 4,309 ft long and 100 ft wide, and 12/30 is 6,800 ft by 150 ft. The longest runway (9L/27R) can accommodate virtually all types of business jets, and the field supports both VFR and IFR operations with instrument approaches for the main runways.
The airport operates 24/7 and provides full FBO support through providers such as Atlantic Aviation, Signature Flight Support, and Fontainebleau Aviation. It also has U.S. Customs services on-site (available daily from 09:00 to midnight), allowing for international general-aviation arrivals.
OPF is currently undergoing significant development. A new Embassair FBO, completed in December 2023, provides covered aircraft parking and upgraded security systems. Jet Aviation has broken ground on a new LEED-certified FBO and hangar complex, with initial operations planned for mid-2026; the facility will include space for ultra-long-range business jets and on-site U.S. Customs. Sky Harbour is also investing in the airport, with a large hangar planned for completion in the second quarter of 2026.
In terms of users, OPF supports business aviation, light cargo traffic (especially to the Caribbean), and major maintenance facilities capable of servicing large aircraft. It also hosts the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Miami, the Miami-Dade Police Aviation Division, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue aviation units.
