Salzburg Airport (SZG/LOWS), officially Salzburg Airport W. A. Mozart, is Austria’s second-largest international airport and the main air gateway to Salzburg and the nearby Alpine ski regions, including the Ski Amadé network.
Located 1.7 nautical miles (3.1 km) from Salzburg’s center and just 2 km from the German border, the airport spans about 175 hectares and is owned by the State of Salzburg (75%) and the City of Salzburg (25%).
It has one 2,750 × 45 m runway (15/33) with Cat II/III ILS, RNAV (GNSS), and full precision lighting, allowing operations by large aircraft such as the Boeing 747-400.
Two passenger terminals handle roughly 1,600 passengers per hour. The airport also includes three hangars, a general aviation area, a cargo terminal with cold and hazardous-goods facilities, and fueling by BP, Shell, and OMV.
Planned investments through 2030 aim to modernize and redesign the terminal infrastructure.
