Abu Dhabi International Airport

Abu Dhabi International Airport (IATA: AUH, ICAO: OMAA) is the main international airport of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Located about 16.5 nautical miles (30.5 km) east of the city, it is the second-busiest airport in the UAE and serves as the primary hub for Etihad Airways, the country’s second-largest airline after Emirates.

The airport covers approximately 3,400 hectares and features three operational passenger terminals, with ongoing expansions planned to raise total capacity beyond 30 million passengers per year. In 2024, AUH handled around 29.1 million passengers, with flights connecting over 130 destinations across more than 60 countries.

Abu Dhabi International Airport supports a mix of commercial, cargo, and business aviation. Dedicated facilities for private and corporate flights allow passengers to access lounges and services tailored to executive travel. The airport is well-equipped to handle all types of aircraft, including small props, regional jets, long-range jets, and large wide-body airliners. Its main runway measures 4,100 m (13,452 ft), allowing unrestricted operations for aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747.

The airport has undergone extensive redevelopment, including terminal expansions, apron upgrades, and modernized passenger facilities, reflecting its growing importance as a regional and international hub.
