Knossos

Located just south of Heraklion, the Minoan Palace of Knossos is Crete’s most iconic archaeological site. Once boasting around 1,200 rooms, the palace has partially been reconstructed, offering visitors a vivid glimpse into the grandeur and sophistication of Minoan life.

Phaistos

Malia Palace

Zakros

Palekastro

Palekastro is an ancient Minoan town excavated at Rousolakos, near the modern town of Palekastro. The site reveals traces of daily life and settlement patterns, offering insight into Crete’s Minoan civilization beyond the grand palaces.

Gortys 

Located just outside Heraklion, Gortys was an important city from the Minoan period and later became the Roman capital of Crete. First inhabited around 3000 B.C., it flourished between 1600–1100 B.C. The site is famous for the Gortyn Code, the oldest and most complete surviving example of ancient Greek law.
