Tbilisi International Airport

Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport (Georgian: თბილისის შოთა რუსთაველის სახელობის საერთაშორისო აეროპორტი; IATA: TBS, ICAO: UGTB), formerly Novo Alexeyevka International Airport, is the main international airport in Georgia. It is located about 17 km southeast of central Tbilisi.

The airport is operated by TAV Airports Holding, which holds a 76% share via TAV Georgia under a long-term concession.  A major investment is currently underway: $65 million is being used to reconstruct and extend the previously unused runway. Once completed, the runway will meet ICAO Code F standards, allowing the airport to accommodate very large aircraft such as the Airbus A380-800, Boeing 747-8, Antonov An-124, and even the An-225. A new F‑code taxiway is also part of the plan.

In terms of traffic, Tbilisi Airport set a new record in 2024, handling 4,750,830 passengers, which was a 29% increase over 2023. The airport also saw 22,715 flights during the year, up 30% year-on-year.

The rapid passenger growth has raised capacity concerns: according to recent analysis, the airport is approaching its limit, with current capacity estimated around 4.5 million passengers per year.
