St. Gallen–Altenrhein Airport (IATA: ACH, ICAO: LSZR), also known as People’s Airport, is a small regional airport located in Altenrhein in the Canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland. It lies on the shores of Lake Constance, close to the borders with Austria, Germany, and Liechtenstein.
The airport is operated by Airport Altenrhein AG and serves as the home base for People’s (formerly People’s Viennaline), which provides scheduled services to Vienna and seasonal charter flights to various leisure destinations.
Facilities at ACH include a single, modest passenger terminal (no jetways), apron stands for regional aircraft and business jets, and a fixed-base operator (FBO) for general aviation. The airport is equipped with an ILS (Instrument Landing System) for runway 10 and supports paved- and grass-strip operations: runway 10R/28L is 1,500 m × 30 m (asphalt) and the parallel grass runway 10L/28R is 600 m long.
Business aviation is well supported: ExecuJet operates a VIP / FBO facility at the airport, offering hangar parking, customs and immigration handling, de-icing, catering, and a passenger lounge.
According to its tariff schedule (effective 1 April 2025), the airport sees grooved runway lighting, PBN (Performance Based Navigation) approaches, and PCN 30 for its asphalt runway.
In 2024, St. Gallen–Altenrhein recorded approximately 63,694 passengers, continuing a steady recovery in traffic. Aircraft movements remain focused on non-scheduled and business aviation.
With its strategic location near Lake Constance, the airport is a convenient entry point for eastern Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and nearby Austrian ski areas such as Davos and St. Moritz, especially popular among business travelers and regional tourists.
