Doha International Airport

Doha International Airport (ICAO: OTBD) (Arabic: مطار الدوحة الدولي‎‎) is located in Doha, Qatar. It served as Qatar’s main commercial airport until the opening of Hamad International Airport in May 2014.

Since then, scheduled commercial operations have largely ceased, but the site remains active. It is used by the Qatar Emiri Air Force, Qatar Amiri Flight, Rizon Jet, Gulf Helicopters, and the Qatar Aeronautical College.

The airport has one runway, 15/33, which is 4,570 m (14,993 ft) long and 46 m wide, surfaced with asphalt. According to the Qatari AIP, the declared landing distance for runway 15 is 3,820 m and for runway 33 is 4,570 m. The elevation of the airfield is 35 ft (11 m).

Today, the airport primarily supports military, VIP, and general aviation operations. There are handling services for business aircraft, and the field remains instrumental for state and diplomatic flights. The visual approach charts indicate that helicopter and VFR (visual) traffic is restricted in certain airspace sectors.

While there have been plans to redevelop the site (some sources have mentioned transforming it into an urban development), the airport remains an operational aviation facility under the control of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority.
