St Christoph Ski Resort
Small, refined, traditional. Located at 1800 m above sea level, St. Christoph is one of the Alps´ highest ski resorts: a spacious yet very cozy mountain hut offering 700 guest beds. St. Christoph became famous in the 14th century when the shepherd Heinrich Findelkind built a hospice as a shelter against the whims of nature. Today St. Christoph offers a few hotels and inns. The evenings are best whiled away in rustic lounges where you can sample hearty dishes, fine wines and happy laughter. You will make new friends and return home full of happy memories.
Perched at 1800m above sea level, the village of St Christoph is the very definition of ‘small but perfectly formed’. Just 6km from St Anton, it offers a peaceful mountain home for those who want the skiing without the hustle and bustle.
One of the highest ski resorts in the Alps, St Christoph is actually 500m above St Anton and has direct access to the enormous Arlberg ski area – 305km of piste, 111 lifts and unlimited potential. What’s more, with the four lifts that link St Christoph and St Anton to Lech and Zürs, the Arlberg region is now the largest linked ski area in Austria.
Set in an open snow bowl, St Christoph gained its name in the 14th century, when a shepherd set up a hospice there. In the 600 years since, the village has developed into a fairytale scene, with a focus on traditional hospitality.
Popular with families and couples, St Christoph is home to a few small hotels and inns. The shopping is pretty limited but there are plenty of restaurants serving hearty Alpine cuisine. Evenings are usually spent relaxing in rustic lounges, sipping a glass of wine. If you fancy a wilder night out, stick to St Anton, which is world-famous for having one of the best après scenes in Europe.
