Between Ortisei and Selva on the foot of the impressive Sassolungo lies the village S. Cristina. Surrounded by the summits of the Dolomites and flowering alpine pastures, S. Cristina is a popular holiday destination. The village is located on an altitude of 1.428 m and has 1.900 inhabitants. It stretches from the Odle group in the north to the Sassolungo group in the south. In summer S. Cristina in Val Gardena is the ideal starting point for hikes and walks and trips to the nearby vie ferrate. Furthermore the village provides an athletics area and a sports center with tennis courts and an indoor climbing hall. In the winter months it provides well groomed slopes in all levels of difficulty which are all connected to the Sellronda and the Gardenaronda. Col Raiser, Seceda in the north and Monte Pana in the south belong to the famous ski resorts of the village. The Nordic ski center on Monte Pana provides two ski jumps and a cross-country skiing center with more than 30 km of cross-country skiing trails. Moreover the numerous guests benefit from the centrally location of S. Cristina, because all lift facilities are easily reachable and offer best access to the ski area Dolomiti Superski. The community in the Dolomites is venue of the alpine ski World Cup. A men Super-G and downhill race takes place every year on the Saslong slope. S. Cristina in Val Gardena offers modern and comfortable hotels as well as lonely located farms nestled in the idyllic landscape of the Dolomites. Hospitality is one of the uppermost priorities in S. Cristina. The attractive village centre is a favourite place for shopping tours and walks away from traffic. The main road which runs through the village center is converted into a pedestrian zone for various occasions in the season.
