Schinoussa is a small, virgin island, right in the heart of the Inseln der Kykladen. Located southwest of Naxos, it belongs to the Small Cyclades complex (together with Koufonisi, Donousa, Iraklia and other islets).

Its name probably derives from the bushy plant lentisk (Schino in Greek) that flourishes on the island. There is, however, another version telling that the island took its name after the Venetian nobleman Schinoza. There are only 3 villages in the island, Chora, Messaria and Mersini. Despite its small size, the island features 17 incredible beaches!
