Summer is a fabulous time to discover the urban Italian gem of Trieste, on the Adriatic Sea. This historic port city has many great cafes and an easygoing atmosphere. It also has the delightful Piazza Unità d’Italia, the largest piazza in Italy (not counting the Vatican).
